Panda Base and Chengdu Highlights Tour

The first day is reserved for arrival in Chengdu and settling in to the hotel. No other activities are predicted.

Huanglongxi Ancient Town

Jinli Old Street was once the commercial centre of the old Chinese kingdoms and it is fully restored nowadays. You can see many interesting things there and it is the ideal place to buy some souvenirs or to taste the local snacks. The day ends in the Long Chao Shou Snack. This place offers some very original local snacks and you will get the chance to taste some really extraordinary and extravagant dishes. Chengdu People's Park is a spiritual haven for the city's citizens amidst the bustle of downtown. The park contains refreshing bonsai gardens, artificial lakes, rockeries, historical monuments and traditional tea houses. You could also have a tea in it to experience the local custom. Wenshu Monastery is a large Zen Buddhist temple which is a lively and attractive complex. The exquisitely decorated halls house a fascinating collection of artworks, statues and curios. The vegetarian restaurant is deservedly popular, as are the teahouses, a great spot to enjoy the busy crowd of worshippers. Meals: Breakfast,a Chinese Lunch at local restaurant

Sanxingdui Museum in Guanghan

The Panda Breeding and Research Centre is the unique facility in the world. It is situated some 10 kilometres from the Chengdu city core and it has the surface of some 240 hectares. There you will be able to see Giant and Red Pandas in their almost natural habitat as this centre is dedicated to breeding and researching on these magnificent beasts. The Panda Museum is also available within the complex and it is an ideal place to get some souvenirs. After visiting this centre, the tour goes to the Guanghan where you will be visiting the Sanxingdui Museum. This museum has been founded in 1992 and it has some unbelievable items that date from the 16th to 11th century BC. The materials out of which the items are made are various and you can see many interesting pieces made out of jade, bronze or bone. The daily itinerary ends in the Chenmapo Beancurd Restaurant where you will have the chance to taste one of the most famous dishes of the Chinese cuisine.
